As a volunteer, you are an important member of our staff and act as a representative of our organization to the community at large. For a better understanding of what you can expect as a volunteer and what is expected of you by our organization, we ask you to read and sign the following Volunteer Contract.

The organization will provide for you:

• General training plus any specialized training for specific jobs, such as docents and interpreters (where applicable).
• An opportunity to learn about Marine Biology, Sharks, Conservation, Teaching, and many other fields as well as a chance to learn how nonprofit organizations operate behind the scenes.
• To provide a specific job description detailing duties and responsibilities.
• Opportunities for professional development and social interaction with other volunteers.

• Sign a Volunteers' Contract agreement
• Work an agreed number of hours.
• Choose an assignment within your abilities, interests, and time.
• Attend any applicable training sessions, and tour of the organization (where applicable).
• Notify the organization at least an hour beforehand if are unable to fulfill your volunteer committment.
• Conduct yourself in a professional, patient and ethical manner at all times when dealing with members of the general public, board members and staff.
• Have fun and agree to ask questions if needed. Remember we are here for you!

I, ________________________agree to provide volunteer services to Iemanya Oceanica, and understand that the organization agrees to provide direction, support and supervision for as long as services are being provided. I agree and understand that I will be required to:

1. Represent Iemanya Oceanica professionally at all times.

2. Handle paper money and/or sensitive credit card information. I agree to keep information secure to the best of my ability and not collect or distribute customers’ credit card or personal information for any purpose. 

3. Lift up to 25 pounds (where applicable).

4. Notify an immediate supervisor on site of any difficulties or conflicts that may arise.

5. Notify the organization beforehand at least an hour in advance of the start of my shift if I am unable to fulfill my volunteer committment.
